HARRISONBURG — WhiteWave Foods Co. plans to expand its Mount Crawford plant next year.
The Bloomfield, Colo.-based company obtained a permit from Rockingham County earlier this month for the $8 million project, which will bring nearly three dozen new jobs.
WhiteWave’s Mount Crawford facility produces national brands such as Silk Soymilk, Horizon Organic, International Delight nondairy creamer and Land O’Lakes creamer.
Lantz Construction of Broadway will build a tank room, incubator room, engine and electric room, and remodel a batch area, process room and filling area at the facility.
The project will add a half-gallon line, which should be up and running in October, according to a statement from WhiteWave. The company expects to hire 32 people to staff the new line.
The statement says the new half-gallon line will support the company’s growth. Calls for additional comment for this story were not returned.
In its third-quarter earnings report for the period ended Sept. 30, White-Wave posted sales growth of 13 percent.
WhiteWave, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dean Foods, went public in October and is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under WWAV.
The company has made significant investments in the Mount Crawford facility over the last 10 years. Since 2002, it has added well over $100 million in capital investments.
The original building went up in 1988. It became a Dean Foods facility in 2002 and has produced solely WhiteWave products since 2005.
