Rockingham County is conveniently located to regional and international airports, rail service and interstates. Once here, visitors can enjoy scenic drives on spacious highways and bike paths and dive into history on several walking tours.

The Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport (SHD) provides well timed departures and arrivals, making it easy and affordable to fly local. Drive time from SHD to Harrisonburg is approximately 20 mins.


The Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO) offers one-stop international and domestic destinations, as well as daily non-stops flights around the U.S. Drive time from CHO to Harrisonburg is approximately one hour. 

 

The Roanoke Regional Airport (ROA) provides more than 50 non-stop flights to nine major U.S. cities. Drive time from ROA to Harrisonburg is approximately one hour and 30 mintues. 


Dulles International Airport (IAD), located in northern Virginia, offers over 80 non-stop flights to U.S. destinations and nealry 50 non-stop flights to international destinations. Drive time from IAD to Harrisonburg is approximately two hours.


Reagan National Airport (DCA), located in Arlington, VA just across the Potomac River, offers flights to 80 destinations. Drive time fro DCA to Harrisonburg is a little over two hours.

 

There are two Amtrak stations located near Rockingham County in Staunton and Charlottesville.

The City of Harrisonburg provides public transportation throughout the City as well as bus routes to the Bridgewater and Dayton areas of Rockingham County.

 

Rockingham County is a cyclist's dream. There are nurerous bike paths and trail rides to enjoy.
